BYD Energy Storage Expands Its Presence in Europe with Poland's Largest BESS Project
Recently, BYD Energy Storage signed a cooperation agreement with Greenvolt Power to jointly develop the Siedlce Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Poland.
With a planned capacity of 600 MW / 2.4 GWh, the project will become the largest battery energy storage project in Poland upon completion, marking another successful deployment of BYD's advanced energy storage technology in the European market.
The agreement further strengthens the long-standing partnership between BYD Energy Storage and Greenvolt Power. Prior to the Siedlce project, the two companies had already collaborated on two energy storage projects in Poland with a combined capacity of 1.6 GWh.
Construction of the Siedlce project is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commercial operation expected by the end of 2027.
Leveraging its industry-leading technology and the proven reliability of its energy storage solutions across global markets, BYD Energy Storage was selected as the project's core technology provider.
For the Siedlce project, BYD will supply its advanced BYD Haohan Energy Storage System, featuring the world's largest 2,710 Ah blade battery specifically designed for energy storage applications. Each storage unit offers a capacity of 14.5 MWh, enabling an equivalent energy density of 10 MWh within a standard 20-foot container.
By delivering higher energy density with fewer containers and a smaller installation footprint, the Haohan system will help reduce both land use and construction costs for the Siedlce project, further enhancing its overall economic value.
